Award Winning Specialty Coffee
Ways of marking time, of not slipping, give us a foothold on our lives when the days and weeks are one gooey goo. Our Saturday Morning Chemex (SMC) is a rung on which we rest while we reflect. And yes, we need to set an alarm that says, "Hey It's Saturday."
El Eden is our first coffee from this farm region in Peru and dang if it's not memorable. There is a clarity and sweetness that is remarkable especially for this; it is the result of small scale farmers in the Jaén region of Peru working together to produce a blend of caturra, bourbon, and pache varietals. They play like a string quartet of old friends.
The bouquet coming out of our 3 cup Chemex this morning was full of perfectly ripe apricots. The brown sugar beginnings of the cup gave way to an experience of two simultaneous qualities: a Pink Lady apple flavor and acidity in the bottom half of the mouth and a creamy almond flavor and mouthfeel in the top half. As this cup cooled, it just got sweeter and sweeter. This is a coffee to share and savor in small cups with with friends at the end of a dinner. We'll make a note to bring it in again after the quar. In the meantime, you can order it for yourself and send some to your best friend to enjoy in a virtual Saturday morning Chemex of your own.
May the sweetness of this special coffee get you through your days.
