Mudhouse Coffee Roasters Goes Gold for September

Charlottesville, Virginia (Sept. 21, 2021) — Mudhouse Coffee Roasters has turned gold for the month of September, taking a visible stand on behalf of Virginia’s childhood cancer patients and survivors.

Mudhouse Coffee Roasters turned all locations gold in honor of Macie Sprouse, a 13 year old in our community who was diagnosed with Very High Risk Pre B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia w/o CNS involvement on July 5, 2018. She battled to reach remission after 2 ½ years of chemotherapy treatment. In just 2 ½ years, Macie has endured more than most could fathom. She has had over 70 clinical visits, 5 bone marrow biopsies, 17 lumbar punctures with intrathecal chemo, 14 blood transfusions, 10 platelet transfusions, 6 emergency room visits, 3 ambulance rides and much much more. Sadly, Macie’s story is not rare. She is 1 in over 15,000 children diagnosed with some form of pediatric cancer each year. That is 43 children per day.

Mudhouse Coffee Roasters in Crozet is also honored to support another local child within the Crozet community. Mudhouse teamed up with Bluebird bookstop, a pop-up bookshop within the Crozet Mudhouse, to provide these fighters with a basket to acknowledge their fight. Each basket was filled with a bag of coffee, $15 Mudhouse gift card, a three month subscription to Bluebird’s monthly book club and a Bluebird merchandise item. Though they are both in remission, they still will have the reminders of the battle they fought with tests and scans each year. Both Mudhouse Coffee Roasters and Bluebird Book Stop want to take a moment to celebrate remission with them.

Mudhouse Coffee Roasters will be ending the month with coffee filled brew boxes, and 30 $5.00 gift cards for both the nurses and parents of the University of Virginia’s pediatric cancer center. Bluebird bookstop will be donating 15 $10 gift cards for those currently fighting in the University of Virginia’s pediatric cancer center.
