The Abateraninkunga ba Sholi Cooperative was founded in 2008 by thirty women growing coffee in the Muhanga district of Rwanda's Southern Province. The name means mutual assistance. They built it to pool resources, share processing, and reach markets that smallholder farmers could not reach alone. Today the cooperative has 334 members, 42% of them women, farming Red Bourbon between 1,800 and 2,000 meters. In 2015 they became Fair Trade certified and won the Rwanda Cup of Excellence in the same year.

The coffee is natural process. Ripe cherries are harvested and sun-dried whole on raised beds at the cooperative's collectively owned washing station, where members bring their lots to be sorted and processed together.
