Finca La Esperanza is two hectares at 1,800 meters in Vereda San Carlos, in the mountains above Urrao, Antioquia. Diana Arboleda Tabares inherited the farm from her father, has managed it since 2011, and farms it with her brothers. In the years since taking it over she transitioned the farm entirely from Caturra to Chiroso, an aromatic variety well suited to Urrao's altitude, and the work of that decision is what's in this bag.

The processing is unhurried. Ripe cherries rest a full day before depulping, the parchment ferments under water for two to three days, and after washing the coffee dries for eight to twelve days in a cajón — a concrete patio under a sliding metal roof that opens to the sun.
