This coffee comes to us by way of our dear friends at “The Coffee Quest” who we have sourced from since 2016. The Coffee Quest is dedicated to transparency in their pursuit of exceptional coffees and has a team headquartered in Medellin with two buying stations in Pitalito and Santa Maria Colombia, ensuring direct access and collaboration with the producers in the Huila region.
Hulia has long been one of our favorite growing regions. Producers in Huila consistently achieve clean, sweet, & delicious coffees with profiles featuring juicy stone fruits, bing cherry, and creamy bodies. This coffee is no different with notes of apricot, nectarine, & key lime. In particular the acidity of this coffee stood out to us. It is a great example of phosphoric acidity, best described as the sparkling minerality you often get in colas.
The name “Las Perlitas” (little pearls) refers to the very small lots this coffee is composed of. Often farmers will produce lots of green coffee that are too small to be sold on their own. These lots are often just as good, and many times better than other single origin lots and deserve to be sold. In order to achieve amounts large enough to sell the Coffee Quest cups each individual lot and pairs it with others of the same quality and cup profile. What you are tasting in Las Perlitas is the collaborative effort of multiple farmers in the Huila region, and the dedication of The Coffee Quest in their pursuit of exceptional coffees.
One 12oz bag of whole bean coffee.
