Finca Villa Losada is located in Santa Maria, Huila, Colombia and run by Aldemar Losada. The farm sits at an elevation of approximately 2,000m and consists of 6.5 hectares in total, 4.5 in coffee. Of those 4.5 hectares, the farm is almost exclusively planted with Yellow and Red Caturra, with about 5-10% Typica mixed in between the lots. This coffee is fermented in cherry for 24 hours and then de-pulped and fermented for another 44-46 hours. After washing, the coffee is dried either on raised African beds, in a parabolic dryer or under shade inside the roof of the house, for anywhere from 15-30 days, depending on the weather conditions and/or style of drying.
Aldemar is part of the Association La Victoria, and has indicated his interest in really pushing into specialty coffee and the cup quality of this lot is a clear reflection of those efforts! We couldn’t be more excited for future harvests from Finca Villa Losada!
