The WORKA Cooperative, made up of 305 small holder member farmers, was established in 2005 and joined the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU) the same year. The YCFCU consists of 24 member coops, and serves to organize investment in infrastructure, schedules tree maintenance, and oversee harvesting and processing procedures.
The Worka is one of our all time favorites, and we continually return to it not only because our customers flip out over it but because it serves as an excellent educational coffee as well. The florality and dynamic clarity of this year’s crop stopped us in our tracks. The WORKA Cooperative’s exceptional natural processing produces a clear, floral fragrance, big tropical fruit notes, and a juicy body that exemplify the promise, beauty, and range of specialty coffees.
