Exhibit: November 30 - January 02, 2011
Anthony Pulitano is a young professional painter with a serious respect for the craft, as well as the subjects that inspire him. His artistic career is a lifetime of dedication to excellence.
At a young age, doctors diagnosed Anthony with a degenerative eye disease. It was predicted that he would never have true depth or color perception. Despite such odds, Anthony has intensively studied art from the age of eight. He continued to mature with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from The Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. From there, formal education continued in Italy at the Florence Academy of Art. There, he studied at a traditional atelier in the techniques of the Old Masters passed down since the Italian Renaissance and 19th Century France.
One will consistently hear comparison of Anthony’s work to that of the Old Masters. While this young artist will be the first to withdraw from such a lofty classification, his high standard of quality is a commitment to the unwritten truths passed on from great artists of the past. His intention is to follow through and adapt such knowledge, illustrating beauty for the changing world.
As a professional portrait artist, Mr. Pulitano’s commissions include a portrait for His Eminence Theodore Cardinal McCarrick, the recently retired Archbishop of Washington D.C. More recently, Anthony was awarded a commission to paint Father Benedict Groechel of New York. Paintings by Pulitano have been exhibited at M Gallery of Fine Art in Sarasota, Florida, Olde Florida Gallerie in Ft Myers, Florida, as well as private collections throughout the United States as well as Italy.
Mr. Pulitano has received international recognition for his works. Honors include Best of Ringling in 2003 and 2004, The Artists Magazine 21st annual competition in 2004, and the Portrait Society of America’s International Portrait competition in 2007. His work has sold at auction at the Barrett Art Center in New York. Anthony was recently featured on the cover of the Gulf Coast Times in southwest Florida for their article “Master In The Making.”
